The black eagle symbol of the UFW and AFL-CIO union on the wall of the hall of the UFW in San Luis. UFW founder Cesar Chavez died in San Luis in 1993, in an apartment close to the hall. The eagle symbol was adopted from Aztec mythology. Chavez had once said A symbol is an important thing. That is why we chose an Aztec eagle. It gives pride . . .
