Around 1200 local people watching the funeral procession of Kelso Cochrane at the St Michael and All Angels Church, Ladbroke Grove, west London, 1959. Kelso Cochrane, an Antiguan immigrant, was stabbed by 3 white youths, thought to be linked to the Oswald Mosley Union Movement fascist presence in the area. His unsolved murder, following on from the Notting Hill race riots a year earlier, led to the British Government holding an enquiry into race relations - Alan Vines - 1959-06-06
