A family were evicted from their Oakland house after First Franklin Mortgage Services, owned by Merrill Lynch and Bank of America, foreclosed on the home. Community activists in the Home Defenders campaign of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) successfully prevented prior efforts to evict the family, but Alameda County Sheriff surprised the family evicting them, boarded over the windows, and put a padlock on the gate.
