A child studying a water services inspection cover. Pavement markings showing the location of utilities underground prior to roadworks. Due to the huge number of utility services located within the roads and pavements, it often becomes necessary to indicate what is where. This is done by reading utility plans and using a spray paint to show the mapped location of each service using signs, letters, and colours on the pavements. These show the intricate networks of pipes, cables, and wires that constitute the space under the pavement in an urban environment.
