Carlsbad, New Mexico - Workers prepare transuranic nuclear waste from Americas nuclear weapons program for long-term storage at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant. Here a fork lift brings a TRUPACT shipping container full of nuclear waste into a processing area. The radioactive materials are then stored in rooms carved out of an ancient salt formation a half mile below the Chihuahuan Desert.
