Frederic Mullally, in suit and tie, journalist with the Sunday Pictorial, being protected by anti-fascist supporters before speaking against the rise in fascist activity in the borough just two years after the end of the Second World War. The Ridley Road area in Hackney saw many violent clashes between fascists and anti-fascists who attempted to stop the racist street meetings.
